Wurlitzer mandolin, Circa 1915
This exquisite mandolin was sold by Wurlitzer, a noted musical instrument distribution house, early in the 20th century. The back and sides are crafted from beautiful Brazilian rosewood, and the fingerboard is made of alternating blocks of pearl and abalone shell, with pearl blocks nicely engraved. The top is pearl bound and a pearl strip also adorns the back. It is not clear who made this mandolin, although some aspects of it are similar to Larson Brothers instruments from the same period.
