Unmarked fretless 5-string banjo Circa 1870's
This very interesting banjo from the minstrel era features a solid rosewood neck with interesting inlaid marquetry work and inlaid fret markers. Note the shape of the neck around the fifth string peg. The wood rim is decorated with metal bands and diamonds, and the fitting of the neck to the rim is particularly unusual.
