Vegaphone Artist plectrum banjo, S/N 74699, Circa 1927
The Vegaphone line, with a flanged resonator, was introduced by Vega in the 1920's to compete with the Paramount and Bacon & Day Silver Bell banjos of the same period. The "Artist" model was next to the top of the line, and featured gold plated metal parts, a nicely carved heel, and fancy engraved pearl inlays all over.
