George C. Dobson "Victor" 5-string bano, Circa 1880's.
This early Dobson banjo is one of the few slotted-peghead George Dobson banjos I have seen, although Henry Dobson frequently used this neck design for his "Silver Bell" banjos. It looks like there was originally some kind of metal band on the inside of the rim near the head, but it's long gone and we can't know exactly what it was for.
