Even lower grade Fairbanks banjos were fine instruments, as evidenced by this "Senator" model from just after the turn of the nineteenth century. Tasteful engraved inlays, a bound fingerboard, and high quality workmanship are the hallmarks of this banjo, which is still a fine playing instrument.
