A. C. Fairbanks "Special Electric" No. 5, 5-string banjo, S/N 19333, Circa 1899
This beautiful banjo was made only a short time after my earlier "Special Electric" No. 5 banjo, but it's quite different. The rim is full spun and ivoroid bound, with a normally situated electric tone ring rather than the inverted one on my earlier example. The inlay pattern is similar, but the neck carving is quite different. Note the nice carved ivory pegs and tailpiece.
