No-name (but almost certainly Rettburg & Lange) 5-string banjo Circa 1900
This is a very interesting transitional banjo made by Rettburg & Lange sometime after they bought the R. H. Buckbee Company and before they marketed their famous Orpheum line of banjos. The odd-shaped peghead on this banjo and the fingerboard sport the same inlay pattern that was later to show up on Lyon & Healy "Professional" banjos also made by R&L around 1915. The carved heel pattern is exactly the same as that used on the Orpheum No. 2 models.
