L. B. Gatcomb “The Monarch” model 20, 5-string banjeaurine Circa 1890, S/N 6151
Gatcomb was a noted Boston banjo maker and publisher in the 1890's. This banjeaurine is similar to those that Stewart introduced in the 1880's. One interesting feature is the "little gem" neck adjuster inserted into the heel of the neck and adjusted by the little screw hole shown in one of the photos below. Note the unusual scale length, which places the bridge much closer to the tailpiece than is usually seen.
