A.C. Fairbanks Co. “Special Electric No. 1” 5-string banjorine, S/N 18573, circa 1899

This is a rare Fairbanks banjorine (Stewart was furious at Fairbanks for stealing the banjeaurine concept from him, although he never patented it, so Fairbanks used a different spelling for this style banjo) from the days of the banjo orchestras.  The banjorine took the part of the violin.  This instrument has lovely engraved pearl inlay on the neck and headstock, and the scalloped tone ring characteristic of all "Electric" models in the Fairbanks line.
