A. F. Eibel (Malden, MA) 5-string banjo Circa 1890's
This newest addition to my small collection of Eibel banjos reflects his development as a small independent maker who probably got most of his parts from Fairbanks & Cole. This example features nice saw-cut pearl inlay on the peghead and fingerboard (later Eibel banjos display fine engraved inlays as did banjos made by Fairbanks in the 1890's). Note the very long ebony backstrap.
