W. A. Cole 5-string banjo, model 1500, S/N 4674, Circa 1897
This is a standard size example of the Cole 1500, with an 11" head and a 27" scale length. Although these banjos were considerably plainer than the various Cole's "Eclipse" models, they are still well made, attractive banjos with lovely saw-cut inlays and quality hardware. The tailpiece, tuners, and neck brace on this example are not original.
