W. A. Cole “Eclipse” 5-string banjo model 5000, S/N 3600, Circa 1897
This is a wonderful example of Cole's highest grade banjo, and it is in remarkable condition. The peghead and fingerboard have imaginative inlays with the usual exquisite engraving seen on most Fairbanks and Cole banjos from this period. In addition, this banjo features a finely carved boat heel, a long backstrap, and cobra hooks on the rim.
