A.C. Fairbanks “Electric” 5-string banjo, S/N , Circa 1896
This is an interesting transitional banjo made just before Fairbanks introduced the “Special Electric” line. The rim is identical to those used in the SE line, but the neck is not bound and multiple laminations are not present under the peghead overlay, fingerboard, and heel cap. This banjo sounds great and and it plays wonderfully.
